Introduction of the main components of LED panels

Different from other LED lights applications, such as LED tubes, LED bulbs, LED panels did not follow the traditional appearance design. In fact, they are derivatives from LED backlighting technology. Pushing the boundaries of traditional design concept made LED panel lights fully develop their own advantages and wide spread all over the world.

 

LED panels can emit even rays, no glares, more delicate structures, very popular in offices, hospitals, luxury hotels and some other high-end leisure and entertainment. Their elegant appearances made them the No.1 for lighitng designers or interior designers. This article will give a small talk about the basic construction of LED panels.

Aluminum frames:

Aluminum frames are the main cooing sections for LED panel lights, simple but elegant. The most commonly used model for panel frames is ZY0907, which costs much less in metal mold and stamping. The die-casting aluminum frames can be designed into different IP levels (IP67 tops).

 

LED lighting sources:

The normally used LED chips for LED panel lights are 3528 (35mm x 28mm), 3014, and 5060. Here panel manufacturers have to do some tradeoff. 3014 and 5060 are relatively cheap but with poor lighting efficiency. Most of manufacturers prefer to use 3528, not for a good lighting efficiency but the designs of light grids is much easier for them compare with 3014 and 5060.

 

LED light guide plate (LGP):

LGP is a key design point for LED panels. The working principle is guiding the light (generated by side mounted LED chips) thought the LGP evenly. A poorly-designed LGP will cause an uneven light distribution. Most of the light will concentrate on the center while other areas are much darker. Even worse, the entire panel presents bright-and-mark streaks, which is very ugly. In order to increase the lighting efficiency, designers should create a competent LGP. The next factor needed to be considerate is plate quality. However, designers would not pay much attention on this part, since the luminousness of different plates only impacts very tiny influences on total effects. Generally, small sized LED companies prefer to use finished plates from other factories rather than design and produce their own LGPs. By doing so, they can save a large amount of money.


Zimbabwe plan to introduce LED street lighting technology

Recently, Zimbabwe was focused on a new plan: gradually introduce LED street lighting technology all over the country in next two decades. On 5th July 2012, Mr. Cllr Amen Mpofu, the Vice Mayor of Harare, announced that landscape lamps on main streets will be replaced by advanced LED lighting technology during 2012. In his words, this will be a new milestone for the capital city and even for Zimbabwe. Mr. Cllr Amen Mpofu also indicated that this project will be spread through the entire country and the estimated energy saving will be approximately 80%. “LED is the most advanced lighting technology at the moment. Our scientists have made a complete set of tests and proved that it really save a large amount of energy compare with other traditional lights, even sodium lamps and halide lamps. We can save a lot of money by installing LED street lights. We decided to put this money into public issues to enhance the government facilities to serve our people better. ”

 Recently, Zimbabwe was focused on a new plan: gradually introduce LED street lighting technology all over the country in next two decades.

In a later interview, Mr. Mpofu introduced the main steps of this project and discussed about the social economic benefit and environmental benefit brought by it. As mentioned before, the implement of this place will save nearly 80% electrical energy. According to a recent poll in Zimbabwe, more than 80% residents expressed their support for this project. “It went beyond my expectation, I thought previously less than 50% citizens would agree with this plan. But the results came out so good. It suggested that our environmental protection consciousness has been strengthened. ”

 

Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust published a research report at the end of last month, giving out a series of experiment results and conclusions. In this report experts estimated that if LED street lighting technology were be used all over the country, the Zimbabwe Government would save 1.8 million dollars per year in electrical costs and maintenance costs. This was a conservative estimate, without considering the costs caused by environmental protection. Since LED lighting products generate much less human-hazard substances, people have no need to spend a large amount of money to depose with them during their operation. Although the aluminum alloy used as the main body of LED lighting products may cause damage to the earth, it is much better than other traditional lamps do.

With the energy-saving development to replace incandescent bulbs and fluorescent lighting, LED lights, OLED the popularity of the shape of freedom increasingly been looking forward to. With prices constantly going down, the LED will no doubt become a mainstream light source in the future.

Not only in Japan, the development of the affordable lighting in the world is also accelerating. The Case of Korea, the country is carried out in 2015, LED lighting accounts for 30% of the lighting plan. The United States and China and other countries are also promoting LED lighting investment.

As the next stage in the same state of the style LED lighting to replace the trend of the straight fluorescent lamps. Most lighting companies are currently in development and sales for the substitution of straight-tube fluorescent products.

LED lighting is for the purpose of energy saving at the same time, LED of affordable lighting can also have the effect which is not limited to substitute the original source. Bears the potential of the life and work of human change and lighting to get along the way.

This is mainly because that the use of LED street lights can achieve a high degree of freedom of lighting dimming and color.

For example, LED lighting is theoretically capable of fluorescent difficult to achieve the range of 0-100% dimming. Although fluorescent lamps can support the dimming of the products, yet it can not control the type from 0%. Moreover,  the light will shorten the luminescence life time as the existence of a low amount.
