As we all know, Thomas Edison invest the incandescent lamps？But is it the truth?
Actually, Heinrich Göbel invest the incandescent lamps with the same concept 10 years before Edison, also, many scientists do a lot of contribution to the development of incandescent lamps. Thomas Edison do some development, but not investment. Just like the led strip lighting kitchen.
In 1801, English scientists-David, link the Platinum wire to line voltage and make it light up. In 1810, he invented the electric candle, between two carbon rod arc lighting.
In 1854, Heinrich Göbel used a carbonized bamboo filament placed in the vacuum glass power light. This investment is regarded as the first incandescent lamp, because his incandescent lamp would be working for more than 400 hours. But he didn’t apply for a Patent at that time.
In 1850, Joseph Wilson Swan from UK, started working on incandescent lamps. In 1878, he got the British patent by the power of the carbon filament light bulb under vacuum. Then he founded a company in UK and start installing the incandescent lamps for people.
In 1874, two electricians from Canada applied for a patent for incandescent lamps. They put the glass bulb filled with helium gas to the power of the carbon rod light. But they don’t have enough money for further development, so they sold the patent to Thomas Edison.
After he got the patent, Edison tried to use better Filament. In 1879, he use carbon filament light bulbs, and the bulbs start lighting for 13 hours. In 1880, the new bulbs would be working for more than 1200 hours.
Now, it’s so obvious that Edison is not the first one who invest incandescent lamps, but why almost everybody think he is the first one? I think the concept is the same as Eneltec. In 2007, I went to a friend’s home, and I was so interested in the led strip lighting kitchen. All the designs and lighting situations are much better than the traditional lightings. Actually, led strip lighting kitchen is only one of the led applications, Eneltec is very famous for their LED High bay, I don’t know who’s the first investor, but I know, Eneltec is the best of best.
