On February 13, people returning to their hometown for the Spring Festival found rows of streetlights newly erected along Fanrong Road and Jijing Road on Donghai Island, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, instantly lighting up the roads and warming the hearts of residents. This is a vivid example of Dongtou Company of Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone practicing the people-centered development philosophy and earnestly delivering practical projects for people’s wellbeing. These streetlights have successfully solved the difficulty of traveling at night, enhancing people’s sense of gain, happiness and security.
Previously, there were no streetlights on Fanrong Road and Jijing Road of Donghai Island, leaving the roads dark at night and bringing great inconvenience to nearby residents, along with potential safety risks. The public eagerly expected improved lighting facilities as soon as possible. Chen Jian, Member of the Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of the Development Zone, vigorously promoted this project during the “Safe Evening Visit”, requiring Dongtou Company of Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone to take to heart and take solid actions on the urgent difficulties and worries of the people, and make every effort to ensure the people enjoy a bright and pleasant New Year.
Following preliminary field surveys, plan demonstration and standardized construction, Dongtou Company completed the installation and commissioning of all solar streetlights and officially put them into use on February 9, effectively building a “safety barrier” for residents traveling at night.
The solar streetlights installed this time adopt a green, eco-friendly, energy-saving and high-efficiency design. They consume no traditional electric power: they absorb solar energy through photovoltaic panels for energy storage in the daytime and turn on automatically at night. This not only conforms to the concept of green and ecological development, but also effectively reduces later operation and maintenance costs, achieving dual benefits of environmental protection and convenience for the people.
In the next step, Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone will continue to base itself on people’s needs, provide livelihood services with “meticulous care”, focus on key livelihood areas such as infrastructure improvement and living environment upgrading, deliver more tangible, practical and heartwarming projects, constantly optimize the production and living environment, and support the high-quality integrated urban-rural development of Donghai Island.
