Beginning on March 27th, the Meishan Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, Sichuan Province, launched a campaign at the South Gate Square of the Three Su Temple to solicit feedback from residents, nearby businesses, and tourists on the “Smart Streetlight Design Plan for the Southern Section of Shahuhang” (Shahuhang South Section). Questionnaires and QR code scanning were distributed on-site to collect feedback and suggestions. The response was enthusiastic and active, with over 400 valid questionnaires received that day.

The people build the city, and the city is built for the people. This year, the Meishan Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, focusing on understanding the needs of the people and providing them with meaningful benefits, has established three systems: the “System for Soliciting Citizen Opinions on Urban Construction, Operation, and Management,” the “System for Reporting to Citizens on Urban Construction, Operation, and Management,” and the “System for Heads of Bureau-affiliated Units to Practice the ‘Frontline Work Method.'” Adhering to the “frontline work method,” the bureau showcases its passion for responsibility and action through practical work and performance competition.
As of April 3rd, the public feedback campaign was launched simultaneously online and offline, with a total of 1,642 questionnaires collected, effectively gathering public feedback on the streetlights they prefer.
The Su Temple lanterns, with their unique, antique-style design, received 1,264 votes in the overall questionnaire. 103 responses provided suggestions, with the majority requesting improvements in streetlight brightness, improved post-construction maintenance, and the addition of signage (e.g., restroom directions) on the poles. 88% of residents expressed a desire for LED screens on the poles to broadcast content related to the Three Su traditions, 30.6% to feature public service announcements, 34% to feature city announcements, and 4% to feature other content (historical stories, intangible cultural heritage skills, poetry, and songs).
The renovated smart streetlights will provide residents and tourists with a better nighttime illumination and service experience, contributing to the enhancement of the Three Su Temple scenic area.
