Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, is quietly ushering in a new paradigm of intelligent urban infrastructure management. Recently, the city’s first “integrated drone inspection base station on smart light poles,” developed and operated by Yangzhou Big Data Group, has officially been put into service.

This groundbreaking project utilizes urban streetlight poles as foundational carriers, innovatively equipped with drones featuring dual-mode sensors-4K ultra-HD imaging and infrared thermal imaging. This cutting-edge combination is revolutionary, enabling millimeter-level precision inspections of road facilities, green space maintenance, lighting systems, and construction zones within a 3-kilometer radius. It marks Yangzhou’s official entry into a new era of “integrated air-ground-space” urban infrastructure management.
As a key component of Yangzhou’s urban lifeline safety project and the city’s first “drone + smart light pole” integration initiative, Yangzhou Big Data Group has leveraged its technical expertise to upgrade traditional manual inspections. By deploying AI vision algorithms and 5G real-time data transmission, the system achieves “fully automated 24/7 patrols,” improving inspection efficiency tenfold compared to conventional methods while boosting hazard detection accuracy by 500%-providing robust safeguards for urban operations.
Operational Performance:
Each drone can perform daily patrols for up to 35 minutes per session.
AI vision algorithms detect issues such as road construction, displaced manhole covers, and lighting malfunctions.
Identified problems trigger real-time image transmission to the urban lifeline platform, which then dispatches work orders for on-site verification.
The system establishes a closed-loop management process: “detection → dispatch → resolution → verification,” effectively addressing urban management challenges.
Looking ahead, Yangzhou Big Data Group will continue to embrace innovation-driven development. Anchored by the urban lifeline safety project, the group will explore new pathways and models for smart city construction, delivering more innovative and competitive solutions to support digital economic growth-propelling Yangzhou forward in the race toward smarter urban development.
