The villagers are walking and walking in groups of three or five, enjoying themselves.
“It was dark when I went out at night before, and there were many large trucks on this road. I was still a little scared to go out at night, so we asked the village if we could install some lights.” When mentioning the street lights in Xin’an, villager Yang Heping couldn’t help but praise. “Now I feel more at ease. Everyone often makes an appointment to walk to the square after dinner to digest food.”
It is understood that due to the limitations of development conditions, Yangliu Village, Hexi Street, has a steep terrain and is located in a valley area. The village roads are relatively narrow and unlit, making it inconvenient for villagers to travel at night. Because the village is connected to Yangmu Town, Chaotian District in the west, there are many large trucks passing through, and there are safety hazards in traveling at night, and the masses have great opinions.
In the face of the masses’ demands, “solution” is more important than “explanation”. In order to accurately and effectively grasp the situation reflected by the masses, Hexi Street relies on the “Come to Consult if You Have Anything to Do” platform, closely focuses on the difficulties in the lives of villagers, and orderly conducts small-scale consultations to help solve the urgent problems of the masses. After verification, Yangliu Village and Baishan Village under the jurisdiction of Hexi Street have not had street lighting, which has greatly affected the villagers’ night travel activities. Installing street lights has always been a strong desire of local villagers.
In order to effectively solve the problem, the street actively sought 376,000 yuan of provincial financial connection subsidies from relevant departments this year to support the construction of village road street lights. Since June, the “village street light project” has been officially included in the annual “doing practical things for the people” list. After many visits and consultations, cadres and the masses have opened up channels for discussion and brainstormed, and formulated a final solution for the installation points, maintenance and management of street lights.
After more than two months of construction, 380 solar street lights in the two villages have been basically put into use, benefiting 541 households and 1,666 villagers who travel at night, greatly improving the safety index of people’s night travel. Nowadays, whenever night falls, rows of street lights are lit up, like stars illuminating the night of the countryside.
