“Small” street lights illuminate “big” public well-being. To further strengthen rural infrastructure, address issues such as limited visibility and difficulties when going out after dark, and eliminate safety hazards during nighttime travel, Liuguang Town in Fengqiu County, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, recently installed street lights along village roads across the town, lighting up a “safe path home” for the public.
To ensure the scientific rationality and feasibility of the street light installation project, the town government organized professionals to conduct detailed on-site surveys and planning of the town’s road conditions before installation. Efforts included actively measuring the spacing between street lights, making preliminary estimates of the number of lights required, and formulating specific installation plans.
Additionally, considering the need for energy conservation and emission reduction, the installed street lights are all high-efficiency solar-powered lights. This not only effectively reduces energy consumption but also minimizes long-term operational costs.
During the installation process, town and village officials, along with volunteers, carried tools and materials to various sections of the village and got to work. Everyone had clear roles and collaborated seamlessly, meticulously executing each step-from digging holes and constructing concrete bases to installing light poles and adjusting the fixtures.
“With the summer harvest approaching, there will be an increase in people traveling at night and vehicle traffic. We are seizing the current opportune moment by having the town government fund the purchase of street lights distributed to each village, where installation is promptly organized. This ensures the lighting project is completed before the summer harvest, effectively guaranteeing the public’s travel safety,” said Liu Yonglei, Secretary of the Liuguang Town Party Committee.

As a next step, Liuguang Town will continue to focus on the “concerns close to the people’s hearts,” dedicating care and effort to refine, solidify, and fully address the “key small matters” of the public. Through practical actions, the town aims to “brighten” the happiness and well-being of the community, further enhancing the effectiveness of public services.
