96 New LED Street Lights Installed in Nan County, Yiyang, Hunan

Since March of this year, the Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau of Nan County has been addressing the specific needs of community residents by carrying out targeted lighting improvements in six small streets and alleys with poor illumination, including Baichuan Road, Tahu Road, and Songtian Road. To date, 96 newly installed street lights are now fully operational, benefiting over 2,000 households in the surrounding areas.

During routine grid-based inspections, staff from the Street Light Management Office of the Nan County Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau identified several areas with lighting deficiencies. Streets such as Songtian Road and Yangshushan Lane were particularly affected due to shade from trees and narrow pathways. These issues were especially pronounced near the building materials market and Guihua Garden School, where mixed pedestrian and vehicle traffic posed significant safety risks.

Through community meetings and on-site light intensity measurements, the Bureau identified six priority locations for upgrades and established a dynamic list of “problematic street lights.” Tailored solutions were implemented based on the specific conditions of each area:

On Songtian Road, 2-meter extended lamp arms were installed to penetrate the dense tree canopy.

Near the building materials market, high-power, high-luminance LED street lights were erected.

In narrow residential lanes, short-armed, warm-light, low-wattage lamps were chosen.

Additionally, the locations of 12 distribution boxes were optimized throughout the installation process to facilitate future maintenance.

In the next phase, the Street Light Management Office plans to introduce a “Lighting Index” evaluation system and launch a 24-hour hotline for reporting lighting issues. The Bureau aims to complete lighting upgrades in seven remaining back streets and alleys within the year, ensuring residents can return home safely and with peace of mind.
