Emeishan City, Leshan, Sichuan Province Completes LED Energy-Saving Upgrade of 4,500 Streetlights

On April 22, reporters observed at the Emeishan-Jiujiang Road renovation site that aerial work platforms were smoothly lifting lights, construction workers were wearing safety equipment, and they were working together to orderly dismantle old high-pressure sodium lamps and install new LED streetlights. The site was orderly.

“The newly installed LED lights provide twice the illumination of traditional high-pressure sodium lamps, covering 101 roads throughout the city. Professional testing shows that the project will save approximately 4 million yuan in electricity costs annually, representing a 57% energy saving rate,” explained Lin Wei, a staff member at the Municipal Urban and Rural Construction Support Service Center. Compared to traditional streetlights, LED streetlights provide more uniform and sufficient illumination, effectively improving nighttime road safety and creating a more robust “lighting barrier” for citizens and vehicles.

Road lighting is a crucial component of urban infrastructure, directly impacting public safety at night and the efficiency of urban operations. This renovation project, with a total investment of approximately 12.1 million yuan, plans to replace all existing high-energy-consuming high-pressure sodium lamps on main roads in urban areas and all townships with energy-efficient, high-performance LED lights. This initiative is a vivid example of promoting the transformation of urban infrastructure towards intelligence and energy conservation.

Wang Hongjun, the person in charge of the construction site, stated that the project has currently completed the renovation and upgrading of streetlights on Le’e Avenue, Mingshan Road, Guangming Avenue, Foguang South Road, Jinding North and South Roads, Mingshan South Road, Ejiu Road, Xiuhu Avenue, Jia’e Road, Xiuchuan Road, Mingshan South Road, Yoga Road, Wenquan Avenue, the area around Crystal Plaza, Binhu West Road, Wannian East Road, Foguang East Road, Wennan West Road, Wennan Road, Mingshan Road, Xiuhu Tunnel, and Shili Mountain Tunnel, totaling approximately 4,500 sets and updating 100 intelligent control cabinets.

As a tourist city, Emeishan City’s urban quality is not only reflected in its natural scenery and cultural landscape but also in every detail. The comprehensive promotion of energy-saving streetlights not only helps to create a green, low-carbon, and livable urban image but also enhances tourists’ nighttime travel experience and sense of security, injecting green connotations into the construction of a high-quality tourist city. Next, the city will continue to accelerate the renovation progress of the remaining road sections, ensuring the timely completion of the entire area’s renovation with high quality and quantity.
