As a mountainous and hilly village, Youling Village previously lacked lighting facilities on its main roads and in the residential areas. Every night, the roads were pitch black, causing significant inconvenience for villagers traveling at night, picking up and dropping off children, and returning from working in the fields, posing significant safety hazards. Improving lighting facilities was a pressing need for the villagers. During routine door-to-door visits, the Shaoyang Municipal Party Committee Policy Research Office and the Shaoyang Telecom Company’s village-based work team accurately identified this urgent need of the villagers and, adhering to the working principle of “doing practical things for the people,” quickly prioritized the Youling Village main road lighting project as a key livelihood project.

To ensure the streetlight project was tailored to the village’s specific circumstances and benefited more villagers, the village-based work team, in conjunction with the village’s Party committee and village committee, conducted multiple on-site surveys. Taking into account the main roads and the distribution of villagers’ residences, they scientifically planned the streetlight placement, balancing practicality and coverage. Simultaneously, the two organizations invested 200,000 yuan in assistance funds, connected with a professional construction team, and strictly controlled construction quality and progress. After more than ten days of intensive construction, dozens of solar streetlights were installed, tested, and officially put into use. From the main road at the village entrance to the core residential area, bright streetlights lined the street, completely transforming the old appearance of nighttime travel in Youling Village.

As night fell, the newly installed streetlights lit up one by one, their soft light illuminating the village streets and alleys. Villagers came out of their homes to stroll, chat, and relax, their laughter echoing along the village roads. “Before, we had to use flashlights when going out at night, afraid of falling. Now that the streetlights are on, it’s much more convenient to go out, and we feel safer letting the children go home from school at night!” The villagers of Youling Village couldn’t hide their joy when talking about the new streetlights, praising them repeatedly. Streetlights are not only lighting facilities in the countryside, but also “heart-connecting lights” that link the relationship between officials and the masses, continuously enhancing the villagers’ sense of happiness and fulfillment right at their doorsteps.
