Philips installs intelligent interconnected LED lighting system for Perth Stadium in Australia

Global lighting leader Philips Lighting has announced that it will install the company’s largest integrated LED lighting system at stadium indoor and outdoor of the new Perth Stadium in Australia. With Philips Lighting’s intelligent interconnected LED lighting system, the Perth Stadium will be the first stadium to use integrated LED lighting in the Asia-Pacific region, and will also become the top multi-medium sports venues in southern hemisphere.

Western Australian government follows the “audience first” principle in the process of building the Perth Stadium. The project fully demonstrated Philips lighting design capabilities on large stadium. The integrated LED stadium lighting system includes 15,000 centrally controlled LED fixtures and control platforms. The Perth Stadium can accommodate 60,000 spectators, and the stadium will use the lighting system to create a completely immersive lighting experience for the audience to meet the needs of different types of activities.

The lighting system meets a wide range of operating needs in the Perth stadium. Not only to meet local football and cricket competitions, but also to provide a bright light show; also through the seamless integration with music to create brilliant rock concert. The Arena Vision LED flood light used in the lighting system also meets the requirements of HDTV.

“In order to make Perth Stadium a first-class multi-purpose venue in Western Australia and the entire southern hemisphere, LED lighting is an integral part of the construction program,” said Chris Palandri, regional director of sport contractor Multiplex company. “Whether it’s an Australian football, cricket Events, or rock concerts or other types of activities, lighting is an important part of achieving a great audience experience, and Perth Stadium represents the direction of future sports venues. ”

Perth Stadium uses the Philips Arena Experience system, the core of which is Philips Arena Vision LED Stadium lighting system, including Arena Vision LED flood light and control platform. The system can also be seamlessly docked with other external control platforms to create a variety of light shows or other types of activities. The facade and ceiling lighting of the stadium applies Philips Color Kinetics LED Accent compact direct lightings, which up to 2,000 units and up to 650 sets of Color Reach floodlights; the interior commercial lighting section also applies a variety of Color Kinetics and Vaya series LED lamps that coordinates with each other to show high-level shopping atmosphere.

The Perth Stadium will be used to host a variety of events and recreational activities such as Australian rugby, cricket, soccer, union and league rugby, which scheduled for opening in the 2018 Australian football season. There is a train station and a bus stop near the stadium, and a pedestrian bridge is built across the Swan River to the city.
