Wal-Mart and GE has a long history of cooperation, the two sides work together to develop a wide range of lighting products, to meet the needs of Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart pioneered the use of LED systems in the retail environment, and as early as 2003 began using LED signs. 2005, Wal-Mart launched a collaboration with GE LED freezer program, called the first case ever. In addition, Wal-Mart store parking lot opened by the United States and abroad are the industry’s first LED lamps.
In the United States the use of LED ceiling lighting device stores initiative is expected to save 340,000 kWh of energy for each store, each store is equivalent to an annual cost savings of more than $ 34,000 (at 10.13 cents / kWh). The next two years, Wal-Mart will install the new GE LED ceiling lights in its 200 new stores, which can save a total of 620 million kwh of electricity in the next 10 years; through its everyday low prices, Wal-Mart plans to efforts to save the cost of feedback to the customer.
Energy over the next decade is expected to save the equivalent of 327,360 metric tons of carbon dioxide emission reductions; or exceeds 68,000 vehicles Ministry of greenhouse gas emissions each year; or nearly 30,000 American homes total energy consumption of the year.
October 2013, Wal-Mart in South Euclid, Ohio, the city opened its first shopping mall full LED lighting; after a pilot program based on the effectiveness of the shopping center, the company decided to fully install GE LED lighting products. Through this pilot program, Wal-Mart estimates the quality and effectiveness of GE lighting products, and to determine the return on investment to purchase LED available. The company will use GE’s various lighting technologies in the stores, and will Lumination IS series as the main ceiling lamp lighting device.
