Recently, the first “Smart Glowing Zebra Crossing” in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province was unveiled on Beihu Middle Road, Yushui District.
In order to optimize nighttime commuting conditions in the jurisdiction, the Xinyu Public Security Traffic Police installed the first “smart illuminated zebra crossing” at the intersection of Beihu Middle Road and Beihu Hotel in Yushui District to further improve nighttime and extreme weather commuting conditions and ensure that citizens travel more safely and comfortably.
As night falls, the evening rush hour arrives as scheduled. The “Smart Glowing Zebra Crossing” flashes “starlight” frequently. At the non-signalized intersection of Beihu Middle Road, when pedestrians enter the zebra crossing, the square bricks on both sides light up yellow to remind pedestrians to pass safely. Drivers are reminded to slow down and be courteous.
Traffic and pedestrian traffic are large during peak hours at night, especially in bad weather such as rainy days and heavy fog. Road traffic hazards are greater. After the installation of “smart light-emitting zebra crossings”, pedestrians’ right of way will be clearer and the intersection safety factor will be further improved. Citizens’ travel adds a lifeline of protection.
Compared with ordinary zebra crossings, the first “Smart Luminous Zebra Crossing” set up on Beihu Middle Road has luminous transparent square bricks embedded on both sides of the zebra crossing and in front of the stop line, which enhances the visual experience of pedestrians and drivers.
The luminous zebra crossing system has a built-in intelligent perception algorithm. When the luminous brick detects someone crossing the street, the lighting mode changes, from white to yellow, and the warning effect is more significant; from flashing to running water, it guides pedestrians to cross the street quickly, which is beneficial to pedestrian crossing safety.
