U.S. Department of Energy estimated in 2020 the price for LED is approximately equal to incandescent lamp

From January 1, 2014, the United States banned the production and sell of 40 -watt and 60 -watt incandescent bulb, but before the ban took effects, many American families have a lot of this type of inventory traditional bulbs, so the next 75 watts and 100 watts traditional light bulbs will also become part of the ban.

Driving under the federal standards and the improvement of general lighting technology, the reliability of bulbs increased, so does the life expectancy increase. With more and better efficiency, general residential lighting energy consumption has gradually declined. Thus, despite the higher initial purchase price of LED light bulb, it still save a substantial costs compared with conventional light bulb.

Nevertheless, the majority of American families still believe that the replacement of 40 watts or 60 watts incandescent bulb with LED is still overpriced, so many families turn to buy fluorescent bulbs to replace incandescent bulbs, but the U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates that this trend will change in 2020 when the price of LED and incandescent bulbs will be very close.

U.S. Energy Information Administration believes to 2020, LED bulb efficiency will reach more than 150 lumens per watt, lighting efficiency compared to traditional incandescent 60-watt output of 16 lumens per watt, almost 10 times higher. In addition, lifespan of LED lamp can reach up to 30 years and the bulb will change people’s use behavior.

From now to 2020, due to the halogen incandescent lighting can be applied to general service standards, it will continue to be used. But by 2020, with the standards continuing to improve, halogen incandescent will face the fate of low efficiency, so manufacturers must now focus on developing more efficient technologies.

LED bulbs in the future along with constantly updated technology and the costs downward, perhaps to 2025, the U.S. market will completely replace the bulb with a new generation of solid state lighting, this trend will blow the world and become a trend.
