It was a rather interesting project that happened in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on 19th May 2010. In this project we were required to offer a complete illumination design report for Ned Train Repair Plant. The contact person, also the general manager of this plant, needed to install a set of LED lighting products on service rails to illuminate the bottom of waiting-to-be-repaired trains. The biggest challenge of this project was the dustproof design. The previous used fluorescent tubes had a rather terrible dustproof performance. When the dust entered the tubes gradually after a period of time, they started to lose their brightness, causing the owner of this plat had to replace them frequently, which was not a small cost.
Most LED tubes used in industrial field are only for ordinary lighting purpose rather than focus lighting purpose. Thus, most of them have very low dustproof index. However, the particularity of project forced us to use LED tubes. It is a difficult situation that we never met before. Within more-than-2-week work, we were focusing on designing a type of tube cover with more advanced dustproof function. We learned dustproof principles from LED High Bay lights and LED Explosion Proof Lights and applied them into our design, and finally created an improved ENLT-T8120SMD-01. After one sample order, the client expressed their satisfaction and appreciation to us. These feedback photos have been provided one year after deal. From them we noticed that none of these tubes were in failure and still could provide sufficient light for repairing works.
