10 hectares of LED lighting save 100 million yuan in electricity bills
The Nantou County Government encouraged farmers to replace LED lights through an electricity-saving competition, which not only saved 3/5 of electricity bills, reduced light damage to the environment, but also improved the quality of bamboo shoots, becoming a highlight of agricultural electricity-saving demonstrations.
The Nantou County Government, in conjunction with the Puli Town Farmers' Association, the Vegetable Production and Marketing Class, and the National Jinan University, integrates industry, government and academia to promote the "LED Lighting and Water Bamboo Shoot Field Demonstration Site Construction and Electricity-Saving Promotion Plan". A 10-hectare demonstration area was built in Shuitouli, and 344 high-pressure sodium lamps were replaced with power-saving LED lamps, which can save 111,000 kWh of electricity every year.
If all the 1,800 hectares of water bamboo shoots in Puli Town are retrofitted with LED lights, it is estimated that about 100 million yuan in electricity bills can be saved in one year. Moreover, professional research shows that LED lights can effectively reduce insect pests, make the light uniform, and increase the yield of water bamboo shoots. Reduce the impact of high-intensity light sources on the environment.
Professor Yang Zhiqi, who specializes in counseling farmers, pointed out that since more than 70% of the farmers are elders, it is not easy to communicate new ideas, especially the cost of installing LED lights is the biggest obstacle. With the guidance of the company, the bamboo shoot farmers gradually accepted the replacement of LED lights and joined the ranks of energy saving and carbon reduction. With the support of the county government, the company signed a memorandum of Install LED lights.
Li Daliang, a bamboo shoot farmer, pointed out that the most direct benefit of replacing LED lamps is power saving, because switching from a 400-watt high-pressure sodium lamp to a 100-watt LED lamp is equivalent to reducing the electricity bill by 3/5 per month. The cost pressure of retrofitting lamps has been greatly reduced.
Water bamboo shoots farmer Liu Zongxian said that the water bamboo shoots industry in Puli Town is facing the pressure of generational faults because the farmers are getting older and older. Fortunately, many young farmers have joined the business and are more willing to invest in LED replacements. Currently, the 25th production and marketing class of Puli Vegetables is a 15-armoured water bamboo shoot. In Suntian, there are already 5 armoured LED lights. It is hoped that the county government will continue to hold energy-saving competitions and subsidies to increase the actual incentives for light replacement, so that the proportion of replacements will increase year by year.
