8,000 street lights in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou, Jiangsu usher in new upgrades

Recently, "veteran drivers" walking through Renmin Road, Yuanhe Street, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province at night found that the road lighting was much brighter, the vision was clearer, and driving was safer.

It is reported that in order to practice the concept of "energy saving, carbon reduction, green environmental protection", effectively improve urban functional lighting and reduce energy consumption. In November 2022, Xiangcheng High-tech Zone (Yuanhe Street) will steadily promote the energy-saving improvement and renovation of street lamps in the whole area, involving 63 roads, and the project is expected to be completed in March 2023.

Before the transformation, there were 8,226 high-pressure sodium lamps in Yuanhe area, accounting for 76% of the total street lamps. There were problems such as low light efficiency maintenance rate and high power consumption. In this energy-saving transformation, the existing high-pressure sodium lamps in the area were replaced with LED lights with low energy consumption, energy saving and environmental protection, and good color rendering. After the transformation, the road illuminance has been greatly improved.

In addition, the municipal department also plans to upgrade and transform the integrated lighting management system. The transformed system will fully realize the functions of remote switch control, automatic inspection, fault alarm, brightness adjustment and other functions of street lamps, and can carry out visual, precise and intelligent management and power consumption control of lighting facilities within the jurisdiction. The secondary energy saving also improves the efficiency of lighting management and reduces the cost of daily management and inspection and maintenance.

At present, Qimen North Street, Renmin Road, Guyuan Road, Cailian Road and other road sections have been completed, and a total of 4,057 street lamps have been retrofitted for energy saving. As night falls and the lights come on, the street lamps are like dots of stars, beautifying the city's night scene and warming every citizen who returns at night.

According to estimates, after the completion of the global transformation, the streets can save about 3 million yuan in electricity bills every year, with an average power saving rate of about 70%, and about 4,000 tons of "carbon dioxide" can be reduced each year.
