All 20 stations of the first phase of Beijing Metro Line 6 were replaced with LED lights

The fluorescent lights used in subway stations for more than ten years are now replaced with more energy-efficient LED lights, which not only saves electricity, but also makes the station brighter. The reporter learned from the Beijing Subway Company yesterday that the Beijing Subway has successfully completed the energy-saving transformation of lighting fixtures in the public areas of 20 stations in the first phase of Line 6. It is estimated that this modification alone can save 5.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 3,141 tons every year.

All 20 stations of the first phase of Beijing Metro Line 6 were replaced with LED lights

Yesterday, at Chegongzhuang West Station of Beijing Subway Line 6, more than 3,000 newly replaced downlights decorated the station hall. Walking into the station, the bright light makes the station hall appear more spacious.

The first phase of Line 6 starts from Haidian Wuluju Station in the west and ends at Caofang Station in the east. The line was opened in 2012 and has been in operation for more than ten years. "All the stations of the first phase of Line 6 are underground stations, so the power consumption of lighting is more than that of the ground line." Lu Zequan, Safety and Quality Department of the Mechanical and Electrical Branch of Beijing Metro Company, introduced that in order to reduce the energy consumption of the leading light sources at the relevant stations of the line, solve the problem of lamps to solve problems such as aging and improve the overall lighting effect of the station, the subway company took the lead in launching the energy-saving renovation project of lighting fixtures in public areas of 20 stations in the first phase of Line 6.

Since Metro Line 6 operates during the day, the construction can only be carried out after the end of the operation and before the start of the operation. Therefore, the work is faced with difficulties such as a large operation area, a large number of tasks, and a tight construction schedule. Faced with this situation, the project department set up a special working group to repeatedly conduct safety risk assessments on the construction environment, operating procedures and other matters, and formulate corresponding work measures. At the same time, key employees of the maintenance department were transferred to participate in supervision and training to ensure construction safety.

According to reports, about 64,000 lighting facilities of various types were upgraded this time, and ordinary fluorescent lamps were upgraded to LED lamps. The newly replaced lamps have the characteristics of higher light source brightness, better color rendering, and lower energy consumption. At the same time, the use of new lamps can greatly reduce the frequency of lighting maintenance and save labor costs. In addition, the subway company also adheres to the principle of recycling the old, dismantling the recyclable parts of the removed lamps and using them as spare parts.

In the next step, Beijing Metro Corporation will promote the development of Line 7, the northern section of Line 8, the second phase of Line 10, and the eastward extension of Line 9 and Line 6 on the basis of summarizing the experience of energy-saving renovation of station lamps in the first phase of Line 6. A total of 5 lines have been upgraded and treated with station lighting LEDs to improve station lighting, improve the waiting environment for passengers, achieve the goal of energy saving and carbon reduction, and create a "conservation-oriented subway".
