All LED lights in Sanxia Old Street

The lighting of the archway at Sanxia Old Street, a well-known attraction in New Taipei City, has been aging and damaged in recent years, and the benefits of repairs have been declining year after year. The Sanxia District Office has discussed the root cause and decided to replace the 375-meter-long old street with nearly a thousand lamps and lanterns, and improve the power circuit. We rushed to work when the number of people affected by the epidemic was small, and the work has now been completed.

The New Taipei City and Rural Bureau completed the restoration of the Sanxia Old Street in 2007. The district office pointed out that at that time, most of the lamps were traditional bulbs. Some of the lamps outside were brittle due to the sun and rain. In addition, some of the lines were hidden in the brick walls. The frequency of repairs is 1 to 2 times a year, but after the line buried in the brick wall is damaged, the bulb often trips after repair, or even does not light up.

In order to improve the old street lighting system, starting from mid-last year, the district office invited various units to discuss solutions, and finally adopted the proposal of Huang Zongxiang, the chief of the Three Gorges, to retain the original historical lighting, but the bulbs were fully replaced with LEDs.

The entire improvement project cost about 3.01 million RMB. The district office raised 1.43 million RMB. The other 1.58 million RMB was raised by councillor Jiang Yizhen for the municipal government’s proposal. The project was recently completed. The district office stated that a total of 936 lamps were replaced, including old street archway lights, sign lights, wall lights, arched small cup lights, ceiling lights, power circuits and switch box finishing, etc., and the lines were all open-wired to facilitate future maintenance.

Zhou Jinping, the head of the Three Gorges District, said that the improvement project can reproduce the night scene of the Three Gorges Old Street, promote the development of local tourism, and increase the satisfaction of the people. In the future, people may wish to stay in the Three Gorges more to experience the night view of the Three Gorges Old Street.
