Ambassador Shi said that last September, the two heads of state jointly announced the establishment of a strategic partnership, and the friendship that has been passed down for thousands of years has been further consolidated and deepened. As a good friend, good brother and good partner, China will continue to provide various types of assistance that are urgently needed by the people and benefit the people's livelihood, including solar street lights, to promote the deepening and implementation of the China-Syria community of a shared future.

The Syrian side sincerely thanked China for its selfless help. It said that due to the severe shortage of electricity, the main streets of Damascus have not been illuminated for many years. The street lights donated by China have greatly facilitated the travel of local people. The Syrian people will always remember this friendly friendship.

Abbas Square is an important commercial and residential area in Syria. The solar street lights donated by the embassy are installed on 6 streets, benefiting nearly 10,000 people. After the ceremony, Ambassador Shi was interviewed by Chinese and Syrian media.
