Chongqing uses drone light show to create the world's first new stage for city display
At the Nanbin Road site, since April 19, 2025, Chongqing has officially launched the regular "Charming Chongqing" drone light show in the core area of the two rivers and four banks, meeting with the audience on time every Saturday and important holidays. So far, 16 shows have been successfully held, and 100 shows are expected to be held throughout the year. The show breaks the traditional marketing model and creates a new stage for city display that is the first in the world. It is highly concerned and attractive, and has become a new scene to show Chongqing's unique charm and enhance the national and global brand influence. On June 18 this year, the 28th anniversary of Chongqing's direct administration, the drone show will bring a more shocking and subversive presentation in terms of scale, picture design and content innovation.

The "Charming Chongqing" drone light show, hosted by Chongqing Radio and Television Group and planned and executed by Chongqing Satellite TV, relies on the world-class night view of Chongqing's two rivers and four banks. It consists of a city lighting ceremony and drone performances, and launches special themes every month in a "monthly renewal" mode. Through a panoramic performance with a wide viewing angle, wide field of view, landmark, holistic and highly live feeling, the international urban trend of Chongqing is perfectly integrated with the timeless poetry of Bayu culture. With a series of exquisitely designed patterns, the most beautiful picture of the new Chongqing is slowly unfolded, and the landmark achievements of Chongqing in the process of Chinese modernization are artistically presented, showing the image of Chongqing in all aspects and telling the story of Chongqing vividly.
As a creative new cultural tourism project of "culture tourism + technology", the "Charming Chongqing" drone light show breaks through the city image communication mode of thousands of cities with the same face, and is committed to creating a new paradigm of Chinese urban culture and a new business card for Chongqing. Since its premiere, its influence has continued to rise, with more than 3.6 million people watching on site and more than 1 billion people watching online live broadcasts. It has also driven the upgrading of cultural tourism consumption in the "Two Rivers and Four Banks". The average occupancy rate of restaurants on Nanbin Road exceeds 70%, the average hotel occupancy rate exceeds 80%, and the number of inbound overnight tourists has increased by 608% year-on-year, truly realizing the transformation from "flow" to "increment".
In the future, in order to further enhance the influence and popularity of the exhibition, the organizer will fully consider the viewing experience of the audience on the two rivers and four banks, and constantly adjust the picture design layout, changing from the main perspective of Nanbin Road to three directions of the two rivers and four banks such as Yuzhong District and Jiangbei District, using more three-dimensional pictures, so that the audience can get the same excellent visual experience; in terms of artistic improvement, deepen cooperation with well-known institutions and professional teams such as Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, comprehensively enhance the artistic sense of the exhibition pictures, enhance the integration of pictures with the city, and increase contributions to the development of urban culture and tourism; in terms of theme innovation, seize important nodes to launch hot products, combine important holidays such as Dragon Boat Festival, June 1 International Children's Day, and key times such as the 28th anniversary of Chongqing's direct administration, and carefully design and arrange more thematic and special performances.
