ENELTEC promotes the sustainable development of aquaculture lighting
According to the United Nations, nearly 90% of the world’s marine fish resources have been fully exploited, overexploited or even depleted. As people’s demand for artificially cultivated aquatic products increases, aquaculture requires more scientific and reasonable management methods.
Studies have shown that optimizing the living environment of fish through specific light conditions can effectively increase the growth rate of fish, increase production, and reduce costs.
In fact, the effect of light on fish is very complicated. For fish, light can not only be used to determine the location of surrounding fish and food, but also the only way for them to judge the time and season. Therefore, many factors need to be considered when designing aquaculture lighting: light intensity and distribution, spectrum and light quality, daily and seasonal changes in photoperiod, etc.
The ENELTEC aquaculture lighting team is committed to broadening the boundaries of lighting applications to meet the needs of aquaculture companies and their land-based or sea-based breeding hatcheries and growth ponds.
As early as 2019, ENELTEC had provided LED fish farming lights to Chilean aquatic products company Australis Seafoods. ENELTEC's underwater lights provided a luminous flux of more than 100,000 lumens, simulating summer sunlight. Because fish can digest food better in summer and help their growth, the demand for fish food will be correspondingly reduced, thereby reducing costs and protecting the water body clean.
These lamps dive into 5 meters of water to attract fish and significantly reduce the possibility of infecting sea lice on the ocean surface. This successfully helped Australis' Moraleda fishery farm in Essen, Chile, to rank among the best in the company's evaluation, and to be the best in the list of the eleventh regional fishery farms in 2019 selected by the world's largest fish feed company Skretting title.
In 2021, ENELTEC provided Philips aquaculture photoperiod LED lighting products for Kingfish, the world's first sustainable yellowtail aquaculture company. This product can promote the growth of fish, optimize the feed conversion rate, and increase the yield of yellowtail by 30% than expected by providing energy-saving and high-efficiency lighting for large water tanks.
It has to be said that it is a huge challenge to provide suitable light for the fish in the super-large and ultra-deep water tank and the constantly changing water environment.
Through the specially designed optical equipment, the ENELTEC team can evenly distribute the light in the entire water tank to avoid unlit areas. The electronic components inside the luminaire can simulate sunrise and sunset light effects. The growth lamp provides the best light formula for the water tank. Adequate light can improve visibility and help fish growing in the environment to confirm the food and each other's location. Thereby reducing the pressure of the fish school, improving the feed conversion rate, so that the fish can grow in the best condition.
Facts have proved that light is a powerful tool that can help increase fish productivity while maintaining the fish’s living environment.
