Failure of LED lamps

  Failure of LED lamps is first from the power supply and the failure of one drive fails, the second is derived from the failure of the LED assembly itself. Generally the damage of LED power and drive from the input power over electric shock (EOS) and the load side of circuit failure. The over electric shock of input power tends to cause the drive circuit for driving the chip damage and other passive components such as capacitors breakdown occurred damage ; while the load terminals may cause a short-circuit fault driver circuit over- current drive , the drive circuit may be damaged or short circuit short-circuit fault caused by overheating and damage.

Failure of LED lamps

  Transient over-current event, refers to the current flowing through the LED over maximum rated current of the LED technology data sheet, which may be due to the large currents directly, or it may be due to the high voltage indirectly, such as transient lightning, the transient switching noise of switching power, power fluctuations caused by events such as the flow of overvoltage. These events are transient, a very short duration, usually we will call spikes, such as "current spike ", "voltage spikes". Causes transient over stream event also includes, LED or hot plug power transient over-current.

  Electrostatic discharge events : ESD damage is highly integrated semiconductor components, manufacturing, transportation and application of the most common type of transient overvoltage damage , and LED lighting systems will need to meet the IEC61000-4-2 standard " human electrostatic discharge mode " 8KV contact discharge , in order to prevent the failure over electric shock when the system is electrostatic discharge.

  Overheating and damage : For nearly 80 % LED lighting design which are from the energy converted into heat dissipation, thermal management and fault over temperature protection is an important issue it faces, it have been proved by theory and practice, the  performance and life of LED are closely related with the LED PN junction operating temperature. When the temperature of LED chip junction rise 10 ℃, flux will decay 1%, and LED life is reduced by 50%.
