Jiangsu Suzhou continues to promote the highway night lighting project

Since 2018, Suzhou Expressway Company of Jiangsu Province has aimed to build a "highway that people are satisfied with", and has been the first batch to implement the "Lighting for the People" highway lighting project to continuously improve night driving safety. On April 21, 2023, the fourth phase of the company's "Lighting for the People" project was officially completed and put into use. Up to now, the number of kilometers of road sections under the company's jurisdiction has reached 51.7 kilometers.

In the second half of 2022, based on the actual situation of the existing sound barriers, high-voltage lines along the highway, and iron-related factors of the Suzhou Municipal Expressway, the Communication Investment Group will start the construction of the "Lighting for the People" project again. Suzhou Expressway Company fully researched and judged the characteristics of traffic flow before the implementation of the project, so as to ensure the daily commuting of drivers and passengers, reduce attendance along the line, and avoid accidents caused by construction as a priority. It only occupies the road during the time period from 9:30 to 16:00 every day. . During the period, the construction unit, construction unit, and supervision unit overcame various difficulties, rationally dispatched resources, adjusted the construction plan in a timely manner, and made solid progress according to the established goals. The "lighting" project was successfully completed by the end of April 2023.

The Lianghua section of Suzhou Expressway Company has now covered: G1522 Changtai Expressway south of Pingwang junction, Suzhou North Interchange section Xiangcheng junction main line section, Suzhou North junction south to Yinshan junction section and G1521 Changjia Expressway Chenghu Super Bridge road section and the Fenhu hub road section.

Relevant studies have shown that after the installation of street lights on the expressway, the proportion of nighttime accidents before and after the lighting of the same road section can be reduced by 18.2%, with an average annual reduction of 30 accidents, making high-speed night driving safer. The completion of this project will further significantly improve the visibility and safety of nighttime driving on Suzhou Expressway, reduce the incidence of accidents, and become a strong guarantee for nighttime driving safety. Changtai Expressway at night will also become one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Suzhou highway network.
