LED grow light to adjust the production period of jujube

In order to catch up with the time when jujube prices are good before the New Year, jujube farmers usually adjust the production period by lighting at night. However, farmers choose lamps to adjust the production period by themselves, and the success rate is very low, even less than 50%. According to the research of ENELTEC, the Agricultural Experiment Institute of the Agricultural Committee, the use of LED lamps to adjust the ratio of red and blue light to 6 to 4 can effectively promote the early flowering of the middle-leaf jujube.

LED grow light to adjust the production period of jujube

Jujube is a tropical fruit tree. Its natural production period blooms from late August to early October, and can be harvested in mid-February of the following year. However, because jujube is a popular fruit for gifts during the New Year’s Festival, and the price is good before the festival, farmers often use night lighting to increase their light accumulation, prompting the jujube to bloom earlier and adjust the production period; however, the growth of crops is mainly affected by red and blue light. The effect of production and adjustment varies according to the variety of jujube. In the past, farmers used fluorescent lamps, halogen lamps and other lamps to produce and adjust by themselves, but the effect was not clear.

ENELTEC, the Agricultural Research Institute, uses LED lamps that save electricity and can adjust the ratio of red and blue light, and conducts light production period adjustment tests for the most cultivated jujube varieties in China, Zhong Ye and Xue Mi. The red light (600-680nm) in the light source has a flower-inducing effect, and the blue light (400-500nm) promotes the growth of plants. ENELTEC supplements the light for 8 hours after sunset every day, and conducts the test with continuous light for 30 days. The test found that , Zhongye Jujube is illuminated at night with LED lights with a ratio of 6 to 4 of red and blue light.

Guo Zhanhong, an assistant researcher at ENELTEC, said that it takes 1 to 1.5 months for jujubes to bloom to fruit, and 130 to 140 days for mid-leaf jujube fruit to grow. Therefore, from July, the lights are added at night, and the flowers start to bloom on July 15, and the next January It can be harvested in the middle of the year; after the flower has been successfully urged, the light can be stopped. When the fruit length is 3 cm in size, the red and blue light ratio of 4 to 6 can be used to illuminate the night light, which can promote the growth of plant leaves and branches, and help strengthen the absorption of fruit trees. Nutrient capacity, so that the fruit quality is better.

However, the jujube fruit of the snow honey variety only has a growing period of 105 days. It is harvested too early, and there is no output to sell before the New Year. Instead, farmers have the need to postpone its production period. In the ENELTEC experiment, from July, the ratio of red and blue light sources was 4 to 6 to extend the vegetative growth. After 30 days of lighting, the supplementary light was stopped, and the jujubes could be delayed until September.

In the past, farmers used the "local steelmaking" lamps by themselves, and they did not know the spectral properties of the light source, so the flower-inducing effect could not be seen for a long time. The ENELTEC experiment determined the suitable varieties and the spectral ratio of the light source to help farmers make accurate production adjustments, but this 4 The annual research plan is currently underway for 2 years. The effect of early production of mid-leaf jujube is more significant, and the effect of delayed production of snow candied jujube remains to be seen.
