New Solar Streetlights Illuminate Changyang County, Yichang, Hubei

As night falls, 186 solar-powered streetlights adorn the 5.556-kilometer-long, 6.5-meter-wide Houtao Highway winding through the mountains of southwestern Hubei, transforming it into a dazzling "stellar chain" that guides villagers safely home.

After three years of construction, the road improvement project from Houshan to Taoping in Longzhouping Town, Changyang County, Yichang City, has entered its final operational phase. The project is set for completion acceptance on April 13 and will soon be fully operational.

According to the project manager, the newly installed streetlights convert solar energy into electricity, with each light capable of storing six kilowatts of energy-enough to provide six nights of illumination even during overcast or rainy weather.

Calculations show that these streetlights will reduce annual carbon emissions by 135 tons, equivalent to saving 135,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity or planting 6,200 trees.

As a supporting project for the Qingjiang Pumped Storage Power Station, this luminous highway not only brightens Changyang's nights but also illuminates boundless possibilities for rural revitalization.
