Night scene lighting in the South Canal area of Zhonglou District, Changzhou, Jiangsu

The evening breeze blows gently, and the setting sun reflects the clouds. During the May Day holiday, the newly built South Canal waterfront fitness slow-walking trail in Zhonglou District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, was full of birdsong and flowers. Citizens strolled along the green corridor or rested on the benches, creating a pleasant scene. Recently, the South Canal lighting improvement and landscape shaping project implemented based on the original South Canal slow-walking system (Magong Bridge-Cangshu Bridge section) was unveiled: a 2-kilometer circular trail and a 18,000-square-meter green corridor reproduce the livable quality of the waterfront.

"This trail is so beautiful, it's the small park at our doorstep." Zhang Xiaoju, a resident of Building 3 of Jingu Garden, said that she usually goes for a walk at 9 o'clock in the morning, goes again in the afternoon, and goes again after dinner. She said that the South Canal Trail is the busiest at night. At this time, the lights on both sides are on, and there are a lot of people walking along the coast, and the scene is quite lively.

It is worth mentioning that in conjunction with the improvement of the slow-walking trail, Changzhou City Lighting Co., Ltd. not only added courtyard lights to some of the fitness slow-walking trails and designed lighting in the multi-functional activity area, but also simultaneously implemented lighting improvements for the Magong Bridge, Hongxing Bridge, Cangshu Bridge, and Laochen Ferry Bridge along the route. Duan Xinchun, director of the Yonghong Subdistrict Construction Management Bureau, introduced that taking Cangshu Bridge as an example, the bridge after lighting improvement is like wearing a beautiful blue evening dress, outlining the graceful curves of the bridge in the reflection of the lake, and echoing with the Laochen Ferry Bridge in the distance, together creating a highly ornamental and comfortable night view effect.

In addition, the lighting project is no longer aimed at brightness, but focuses more on integrating historical and cultural heritage with the beauty of the city. For example, the South Canal Trail has designed characteristic cultural landscape areas such as the "Si Ku Liang Cang" node commemorating the ruins of the Fourth Granary and the "Jing Tao Wu Lue" node commemorating Tang Jingchuan. During the renovation, LED high-efficiency energy-saving lamps were used throughout the line, and 11 sets of solar lights were introduced, which can save more than 13,000 yuan in electricity bills each year.
