At present, Oldendorff has carried out a series of tests on four ships. The company concluded that the replacement of lighting facilities into LED lights is the right choice, and the energy efficiency has been greatly improved. Currently, LED lights have been installed on six ships.

According to the test results, the LED lamp has an 80% improvement in energy efficiency compared to the conventional lighting method, which not only reduces the number of lamps, but also has a service life that is nearly five times higher. “Using LEDs will reduce the need for electricity, which will reduce emissions per boat.” Oldendorff says that because of its long life and its resistance to breakage, LED lights can also reduce the workload of crew replacement lamps.

The company plans to install LED lights when the ship is docked, or it will be installed by the crew in future voyages.

According to experts, LED color temperature can be selected from 2000K to 9000K, and the selectivity and color richness are superior to traditional lamps. If used properly, the crew can get a better lighting environment. The crew is in a comfortable lighting environment for a long time, and can also reduce negative psychology such as depression and tension.

However, relevant studies have pointed out that because LEDs are more expensive at this stage. They are only economical when replacing lamps that are used for a long time.
