Osram and Infineon join hands to strengthen NFC programming

Reducing complexity, enhancing functionality and efficiency are the top priorities of all lighting manufacturers. Osram and Infineon Technology Co., Ltd. work together to achieve near field communication (NFC) programming for the industry. Osram's latest OPTOTRONIC FIT product series uses Infineon's NLM0011 and NLM0010 dual-mode NFC wireless configuration integrated circuits (IC) with pulse width modulation (PWM) function. This combination is expected to bring benefits to all levels of the value chain of LED lamps.

Osram and Infineon join hands to strengthen NFC programming

NFC programming is an emerging technology that aims to replace the time-consuming resistor setting technology through a contactless NFC interface. The built-in constant lumen output (CLO) function can maintain a fixed lumen output during the extended service life of the lamp, which further improves the energy-saving effect. The introduction of this NFC interface solution will help develop more cost-effective non-dimmable LED driver products.

Through the automatic completion of online or batch programming during the production process, not only will the operating efficiency be improved, but also the flexibility of the entire LED value chain and the life cycle of the LED lamps can be greatly improved: lamp parameters such as lumen output and CLO settings can all be installed The programming is completed in the process. The OSRAM Tuner4TRONIC smartphone app supports fine-tuning and can be adjusted to the required lighting requirements.

Michael Huelskemper, Head of EMEA Regional Product Management, Osram Digital Systems Division, said: "Combining Osram's industry-leading LED driver programming kit with Infineon ICs, we have extended all the advantages of near field communication to the entire series of award-winning LED driver products. "

From LED driver and luminaire manufacturers, to lighting service companies and end users, the advantages it brings are numerous: reduced LED driver versions, simplified LED module selection, configuration at the end of the production line, and improved output control accuracy . In addition, logistics is more efficient and can reduce the cost of installation, wiring and maintenance. Through the security features provided by the app and the new IC, the luminaire manufacturer will be able to fully control the access rights of these features.

Qi Zhu, Director of Contactless Power and Sensing Business Development of Infineon’s Power and Sensing Systems Division said: "Infineon’s innovative NFC-PWM series creates the most cost-effective NFC programming. CLO function and digital parameters are added. Functions such as settings can help our customers meet modern LED design requirements. On the other hand, these products also provide greater flexibility."
