OSRAM will build the world's largest LED chip factory in Malaysia

OSRAM announced today that OSRAM will hold an opening ceremony on Nov. 23 for a new facility in Kuching, Malaysia.

OSRAM said the plant once completed, will become the world's largest and most modern 6-inch wafer LED chip production base.

It is understood that Julin plant covers an area of 100,000 square meters (48 acres), after the completion of Malaysia can provide more than 1,500 jobs. The production base is close to the Penang factory, adjacent to the airport and the highway, the location is excellent. Qualified staff and infrastructure provide superior production conditions.

OSRAM said it expects that by 2020, the general LED lighting market will grow by as much as 7% per year, OSRAM will be further layout of the new plant by the market.

At present, Julin plant construction work is nearing completion.
