Over 400 LED Streetlights Installed on the Southern Extension of Jinan's Second Ring Road West Elevated Highway
To effectively improve nighttime traffic safety and lighting quality on urban elevated roads, Jinan Urban Lighting Company efficiently completed the streetlight upgrade project on the southern extension of Jinan's Second Ring Road West Elevated Highway (from Lashan Interchange to Shizhong Interchange) from December 20th to 21st. This upgrade replaced over 400 old white sodium lamps with high-efficiency energy-saving LED lights, significantly improving road lighting effects while achieving energy conservation and providing citizens with a brighter and safer driving environment at night.
As the city's lighting supplier, Jinan Urban Lighting Company developed a detailed construction plan in advance, coordinating on-site arrangements, scheduling, lighting system control, and collaboration with traffic police to minimize the impact of construction on traffic. Reporters from Xinhuanghe observed at the scene that during construction, workers pre-positioned safety barriers and traffic signs along the Second Ring Road West Elevated Road, Second Ring Road South Elevated Road, and the Shizhong Interchange. Using articulated boom lifts, they dismantled old streetlights, installed new LED lights, removed individual light controllers, and registered them via QR code scanning. Damage and malfunctions were addressed simultaneously. After construction, old lights were promptly retrieved, and work vehicles were quickly removed to minimize traffic disruption.
"This renovation replaced all the old streetlights with 200-watt high-efficiency LED lights," the on-site construction manager told reporters. The new lights, with a 5% reduction in power, increase road illumination by over 50%, improving nighttime visibility, enhancing traffic safety, and embodying green energy-saving principles. As night fell, the upgraded streetlights illuminated the entire elevated road with bright, soft light. Mr. Wang and other drivers commented that the revitalized lighting made the elevated road more dazzling at night, making nighttime travel safer.
