PoE++ switch with UL certification is suitable for intelligent lighting system

Intelligent edge connection expert TransferNetworks has launched an enhanced Power over Ethernet ++ (PoE++) switch, which is marketed as the industry's first full-voltage, UL2043 and UL2108 certified PoE++ device, specifically for PoE intelligent lighting systems.

PoE++ switch with UL certification is suitable for intelligent lighting system

The company's SISPM1040-582-LRT switch is optimized for the deployment of intelligent building technology and is certified to be installed in the space of a positive pressure air supply system with communication wiring. As an important application for smart PoE lighting, cameras, sensors, and other smart devices, managed PoE++ switches provide (8) 10/100/1000Mbps PoE++ ports with (2) 100/1000Mbps dual-speed SFP slots, while 4) Each port of up to 90 watts is provided on each port, or up to 60 watts of each port is simultaneously provided on (8) ports.

The new switch also uses Transition's Device Management System (DMS) software, which simplifies configuration, installation, and troubleshooting. DMS software provides integrators with lower overall costs, less downtime, and easier management and maintenance of the entire PoE++ network. Automatic power reset (APR) function to monitor and remotely reset powered devices.

Glenn Buck, Solutions Engineering Manager, Transition Networks, said: "As facilities add more intelligent building technologies, our full-pressure PoE++ switches can now be used in the space of the positive-pressure air supply system to connect smart PoE lamps and other supporting IP and power.” This simplifies cable installation and eliminates traditional costs.

As the company pointed out: "The space of the positive pressure air supply system refers to the building area that provides circulating air space for the heating and air conditioning system, such as above the suspended ceiling or below the raised floor. This is also where communication cables are often located. According to the National Electrical Code, the cables and connecting parts used must be made of non-combustible materials, and have the characteristics of non-toxic and fire-preventing smoke. This makes safe power transmission and connection of IP equipment possible."

Buck continued: "Installing PoE++ switches in the space of the positive pressure air supply system where terminal equipment is often located greatly reduces installation time and material costs. With the TransitionNetworksSISPM1040-582-LRT switch certified by the plenary, integrators can rest assured. Our equipment will operate safely and reliably in these spaces while meeting the power and connectivity requirements of smart building applications."

As part of its positive air supply system rating, the switch has passed UL2043 certification, which means it meets the fire, heat and smoke standards in the air treatment space. The switch has also passed UL2108 certification, which meets the standards for low-voltage lighting systems and components.
