Shenzhen Airport's third runway expansion visual aid lighting project has started in full swing

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport's third runway is located between the second runway and the Yanjiang Expressway. It is designed as a modern 4F-level civil airport runway area with a length of 3,600 meters and a width of 75 meters. Among them, the visual aid lighting project has a contract amount of 386 million yuan and will be undertaken on December 11, 2021. The third runway is a land reclamation project. The land will be provided by reclamation and a highest-level runway will be built on the coastal tidal flats. Due to the lack of land handover conditions in the early land formation and soft foundation treatment projects, the project has not been officially started.

On July 12, the expert group, the quality inspection station, the Shenzhen competent department and the project-related units concentrated on field surveys and inspections, and unanimously approved the handover of the land formation and soft foundation treatment project site. The project department acted decisively and quickly launched the "battle plan". The groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 13, and the third runway project started in full swing. The relevant person in charge of the construction unit highly praised the project department for its positive response and quick action.

Compared with other airfield navigation lighting projects, Shenzhen's third runway has unique difficulties. First of all, when implementing foundation pit operations on reclamation projects, it is necessary to prevent the collapse of the reclamation project foundation pit. The project department planned a plan for the prefabrication and hoisting of cable wells, that is, the cable wells are prefabricated on the ground and then hoisted into the foundation pit to avoid long-term underground operations causing foundation pit collapse. Secondly, there is a cross-operation conflict in position and space between the deep bucket lights of the third runway and the automatic paving equipment of the pavement chute, and the lamps and pavement equipment need to be improved simultaneously. In addition, the project also involves the construction of the lighting station project, which has a short construction period, involves cross-operation of various professions, and has high progress and quality requirements. In order to ensure quality progress, the project department insists on BIM-guided construction to further improve management efficiency, and is fully prepared to meet the completion acceptance standards and fulfill the construction period in October 2025.
