Since 2023, local sales of light bulbs in Singapore have met the minimum energy efficiency standards

Recently, the National Environment Agency of Singapore announced that from 2023, all locally sold bulbs would meet the minimum energy-saving standards, at least as energy-efficient as LED bulbs.

At the same time, the Environment Bureau will also raise the bulb's Minimum Energy Performance Standards, referred to as MEPS, to phase out halogen bulbs and encourage consumers to use more energy-efficient bulbs. It is reported that this will save the local family an annual electricity bill of 3.5 million yuan.

Besides, the Environment Bureau will expand the Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme (MELS) and require local media to display the energy label of the product when promoting electrical products.
