Streetlights Illuminate Datang Town, Guidong County, Chenzhou, Hunan
Recently, the streetlight illumination project in Quanxi Village, Datang Town, Guidong County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, was fully completed and put into use. Eighty-eight brand-new streetlights illuminate the village roads, lighting up the villagers' paths and warming their hearts, becoming a bright and beautiful feature of rural revitalization.

Rural night lighting is an important project to improve villagers' sense of happiness and strengthen rural safety. Previously, the village roads lacked lighting facilities, and visibility was low at intersections and densely populated areas at night, posing safety hazards for villagers taking walks, visiting relatives and friends, and picking up children. Inconvenient nighttime travel had long been a major problem affecting villagers' daily lives.
"At night, this road is pitch black. My eyesight is already poor due to my age, and the road is narrow. I'm always worried when riding my bike home at night," a villager told Wu Yuguang, the first secretary of Quanxi Village, during a door-to-door visit. After learning about the villagers' need for nighttime lighting, Wu Yuguang proactively contacted higher-level departments, repeatedly reporting the village's actual situation to relevant departments in Chenzhou City and actively seeking policy assistance and financial support. Through multi-party coordination, he successfully secured 100,000 yuan in subsidies for the purchase and installation of streetlights for the entire village, providing a solid foundation for the village's lighting project.
To ensure the lighting project aligns with public opinion and precisely benefits the people, and to ensure every penny of the subsidy is used effectively, after the project's launch, the village's Party branch and village committee, together with the resident work team, established a special working group to meticulously advance the site selection process and prevent haphazard construction. Staff spent two days traversing all village roads, main thoroughfares, and areas of high population density, conducting on-site surveys, precise measurements, and marking locations to comprehensively identify suitable areas for streetlight installation.
After the initial site selection was completed, the village adhered to the principle of "people's livelihood projects determined by public opinion," widely soliciting opinions and suggestions from all villagers. In response to villagers' reasonable requests regarding blind spots and new access points, village officials meticulously checked, dynamically adjusted, and optimized the installation plan, maximizing the consideration of the travel needs of all villagers and ensuring a scientifically sound streetlight layout with no blind spots.
"Changling and Dongkeng are the two most remote groups in the village. Before, it was pitch black at night, and we were always worried about walking outside. Now, the streetlights are right at our doorsteps, making nighttime travel safe and convenient!" said Fu Qixun, a resident of Changling group in Quanxi Village, beaming with joy as he looked at the streetlights now illuminated in front of his house.
After a month of construction, Quanxi Village successfully completed the procurement and installation of 88 streetlights, completely solving the villagers' problems of lack of nighttime lighting and safety concerns. Moving forward, Quanxi Village will continue to focus on addressing the urgent needs and concerns of its residents, continuously improving rural infrastructure, optimizing the living environment, and wholeheartedly implementing practical measures to benefit the people. By improving every aspect of people's lives, the village aims to gather strong momentum for rural revitalization, continuously enhancing villagers' sense of happiness, fulfillment, and security.
