Taiwan set minimum efficacy of LED lighting
Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) announced a new LED lighting standards, requiring all indoor warm white LED lamps with 70 lumens / watt minimum efficacy, and cold white LED to be more efficient, to achieve a minimum 75 lumens / watt. According to Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs Bureau of Energy (BOE) reported that in 2013 the total consumption of electricity for lighting by 10.9%, accounting for 40% of residential lighting lighting electricity consumption.
Global Lighting Association (GLA) welcomed the move, GLA on behalf of Michael Ng that the minimum efficacy requirements should be set at such a level, high-quality products at an affordable price in order to be widely used. Michael Ng said: "From the standpoint of GLA, we support the development of the world's lowest level of performance lighting products, Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs Bureau of the initiative is a good example."
"This is an interesting situation changes, a move apparently to discourage the use of high color temperature, perhaps in order to encourage the retailer or manufacturer to adopt more likely to comply with the standard warmer light." I do not know whether this will have a knock-on effect.
