The 14 schools in Chiayi City refitted with energy-saving LED lamps

Last year, the Chiayi City Government subsidized 14 elementary and middle schools to replace more than 10,000 energy-saving lamps. Among them, Lantan Elementary School replaced 1,554 old fluorescent tubes and switched to energy-saving LED lamps, saving 45,726 electricity in one year. The electricity bill is reduced by more than 100,000 RMB, the campus is brighter, and teachers and students feel safer in campus activities.

Director Lin Lisheng of the Education Department of the Municipal Government stated that the department will subsidize 11,124 energy-saving lamps in 14 elementary and middle schools in the city in 2020. This year, 16 schools will install about 7,900 energy-saving LED lamps to improve student learning. For comfort, we will continue to cooperate with energy-saving policies in the future, replacing old lamps with energy-saving lamps year by year to provide students with a brighter, comfortable and safe learning environment.

Cai Minting, the team leader of Lantan Elementary School, said that in the past, school classrooms and corridors were mostly traditional fluorescent tubes that had been used for more than 7 years, which were not bright enough and consumed electricity. However, due to funding problems, only a few tubes could be replaced each time.

Cai Minting said that starting from 2020, with the assistance of an energy manager from the Green Energy Service Management Center of the Environmental Protection Agency, and receiving subsidies from the Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the original 1,554 T5, T8, and T9 fluorescent tubes will be replaced with LED lamps. 1 The annual electricity consumption has changed from about 70,481 degrees before the replacement to about 31,755 degrees after the replacement, saving 45,726 degrees. If the electricity is calculated at 2.38 RMB per kilowatt-hour, it can save 108,828 RMB and reduce CO2. The emissions are 22.95 metric tons.

The Green Energy Service Management Center of the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Chiayi City Government pointed out that the center has continuously assisted the public and private sectors in adopting energy-saving appliances in the three years since its establishment. It has provided advice on energy-saving measures to schools in the city.

The Municipal Green Energy Service Management Center pointed out that taking Lantan Elementary School as an example, energy-saving lamps were replaced in two phases from last year to this year, and more than 90% of the lamps have been replaced. This year, the Ministry of Economic Affairs subsidized 208,256 RMB. The school bears 287,291 RMB.
