The EU will joint market surveillance for LED and other lighting products

Product Safety Enforcement Forum of Europe (PROSAFE) has began operating in July 2015, and two years of consumer goods expanded joint market surveillance actions. Joint market surveillance action to five categories of products targeted violations, including light-emitting diode (LED) and fluorescent lamps and other lighting products, sound toys, fireworks, electric tools, and security fencing.

The EU will joint market surveillance for LED and other lighting products

Product Safety Enforcement Forum of Europe is a non-profit professional organization designed for market regulators and personnel and other European Economic Area EU Member States and set up. Forum Europe products and services aimed at improving the safety of users. Joint market surveillance action by the forum co-ordination, and are mainly funded by the European Commission.

Joint market surveillance action has three purposes:

(I) Identify and eliminate unsafe products from the European market, in order to ensure consumer safety

(Ii) Create a "level playing field" for the enterprise 

(Iii) Support and promote the free flow of goods to the European market

The overall objective of joint market surveillance actions are the most effective ways to co-ordinate market regulatory actions for specific products. Joint line market regulatory action can be divided into three areas, including the development of regulatory approach, the project co-ordination and the specific product regulatory action.

Agencies involved in joint market surveillance action from the European Union and European Economic Area member states, but does not include Hungary, Ireland, Spain and Liechtenstein.

Target specific product regulatory action is to enhance a particular product or a particular product category security, LED, fluorescent lamps and other lighting products, including:

LED and fluorescent lamps and other lighting products have better energy efficiency, increasingly popular in recent years. However, there are some poor, illegal and dangerous LED and fluorescent products have been imported into the EU market. According to a recent joint market surveillance actions show that 123 kinds of LED lighting products, 86% of irregularities. Among the more well-known LED and fluorescent lamps have an accident and cause fire.

Authorities have passed non-food dangerous products Rapid Alert System (RAPEX) issued more than 90 briefing on the LED and fluorescent lamps and other lighting products. RAPEX allow 31 participating countries (including the EU and the Member States of the European Economic Area) and the European Commission to exchange information with each other, this information relates to pose a risk to consumer health and safety products, and the measures taken to eliminate risks. Joint market surveillance actions are expected, there will be 40 kinds of LED and fluorescent lamps and other lighting products tested.
