The LED lighting technology talked by Dr. Hackenberg from Audi

Currently, Audi has promoted LED lights, where the matrix LED headlamps is the top. The matrix LED headlamps is composed of several LED, it can illuminate several regions in front of the car. Like the display, it is composed of several pixels, where each LED is equivalent to one pixel, through which we can have plans to illuminate different areas in front of the car. For example, when a car comes on the opposite lane, in order to avoid dazzling for the driver in the oncoming vehicles, matrix LED headlamps can only make the area in front of our own car has light.

Of course, laser headlights also have a great advantage, especially in light of the strength, it’s much stronger than the LED lights, and the illuminated distance is also farther than LED lights. LED headlights illuminated the current distance of about 350-400 meters, laser headlights 600 m. Away from the  Le Mans racing headlight, whose laser irradiation is 800 meters. In the race, it’s very important for the drivers. Our future research and development work related to laser headlights will continue, and there will be a great breakthrough, for example, in the future we would also like to develop a matrix laser headlights. This is the same with the matrix LED headlamps, which can illuminate different areas in front of the car,  but this new technology is still relatively far away from us.

In the future, autopilot or autonomous driving, will become a very important and critical new technologies, it can greatly improve driving safety. Under normal circumstances, the driver will be full of energy, has the ability to control the vehicle well; but once the driver fatigue, it is very easy to make mistakes. Autopilot is the make up of the shortcomings for human fatigue, easily distracted. And it’s never tired, so I think the future introduction of the autopilot can greatly improve the driving safety. Of course, this complex technology takes many years of development, the beginning may also have some problems. Its birth can not be perfect, but the problem will be less and less. Of course, in the field of automatic driving system, we also attaches great importance to cooperate with the IT industry. Because the IT industry can provide sufficient computing power of chips, storage devices, semiconductor for the autopilot system.
