The LED plant lighting market is the future development direction

With the continuous development of modern agriculture, greenhouse planting has been widely used in agricultural production, and the demand for plant lighting continues to expand. The Technavio research report shows that the global plant lighting market in 2020 will exceed 3 billion U.S. dollars, of which LED lighting will reach 1.9 billion U.S. dollars (assuming that the driving power cost accounts for 30% of the corresponding scale is about 3.65 billion RMB), and the export value of China's LED plant lighting exceeds 500 million US dollars (26.3% of the global share, corresponding to approximately 960 million RMB), a year-on-year increase of more than 4 times; the domestic professional organization LEDinside research report stated that the LED lighting market is expected to grow at a compound growth rate of 6% in 2018-2023. However, the compound growth rate of the plant lighting market from 2018 to 2022 will reach 30%.

At present, the types of plant lighting lamps mainly include incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, LED lamps and so on. Among them, LED as a new-generation light source has obvious advantages compared with other plant lighting products: First, LED has higher luminous efficiency and more energy-saving advantages, which means that LED can create higher light intensity with less energy consumption; secondly, LED light source can also carry out free spectrum combination, so as to provide better light sources for plants, promote plant growth and increase plant yield; thirdly, because LED light source does not have the infrared radiation of traditional light sources, the heat dissipation is low, and it can illuminate plants at close range; in addition, the LED light source is directional and controllable. It is possible to control the cultivation process by adjusting the color of the light, the time and position of the supplementary light. Therefore, LED is the future development direction of plant lighting.
