The state of Texas and Pennsylvania towns replaced old lighting with LED lights

In Wichita Falls, northern Texas, there are still more than 5,700 high-pressure lamps, metal halide lamps, mercury lamps, etc. In order to replace all the bulbs with LED lights, the local government plans to cooperate with the renewable energy company Ameresco. The street light is changed to LED. Now that the city has about 2,490 LED street lights, the government plans to switch all the remaining street lights to LEDs, which is expected to cost about $2.88 million.

Ameresco will use Cooper Lighting's LED bulbs with an estimated life of up to 20 years. Ameresco said that after the replacement is completed, it will save 2.85 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year for the city of Wichita Falls.

In addition, the American Cities Alliance (NLC) has also assembled 35 towns in southeastern Pennsylvania to jointly contribute $13 million to convert public lighting equipment to LED lights. As a result of fundraising purchases and reduced energy consumption, participating governments will save $1.4 million annually in energy budgets. The city of Lansdale also participated in the fundraising plan. The original city government was limited by budgetary shortfalls and has been replaced with LED bulbs in the past few years when the bulbs were damaged. After participating in the program, it is expected to install 2,600 LED lighting devices for a million dollars.
