Tianjin Youyi North Road Smart Streetlight Renovation Project Completed

On Youyi North Road in Tianjin, staff from the Streetlight Department are conducting the final round of commissioning on the newly installed smart streetlight LED screens. In the evening, as 59 new streetlights lit up on time, the smart streetlight renovation project on Youyi North Road was successfully completed.

As an extension of the 2024 Youyi Road lighting renovation project, the Streetlight Department began construction of smart streetlights on Youyi North Road on January 17th of this year. To minimize traffic disruption, construction teams worked daily from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. After three months of hard work, they laid 2,197 meters of underground cable, installed 59 new smart light poles, and removed 51 old ones.

The LED screens on these renovated smart streetlights can display public service announcements and promotional slogans in real time. In the future, they will also be able to provide weather warnings, traffic directions, and other information. Integrated with cameras, traffic monitoring equipment, and an audio system, they provide a practical foundation for future "multi-functional poles" and "smart city development."

Since launching its smart streetlight pilot program in 2021, the Tianjin Streetlight Management Office has installed smart streetlights in areas such as Yifeng District, Century Clock Square, Wudadao, and Heping Road, gradually forming a new urban infrastructure resource integrating "lighting + services + management." These smart streetlights not only enhance the city's nightscape but also, through data interconnection, provide citizens with a convenient and efficient life service network, further promoting the intensive and intelligent development of urban public facilities.
