US smart lighting system sales will reach 4.4 billion US dollars in 2025

According to the freedonia group, this exponential growth will be driven primarily by several factors.

First, the rapid growth of the broader smart technology and IoT market, including smart home devices, non-residential building automation and smart city infrastructure construction;

Second, consumers are interested in the convenience of smart lighting features such as wireless, remote and voice control;

Third, energy savings, especially in non-residential applications.

In addition, the research firm represents intelligent lighting control equipment, including lighting-specific control equipment (such as centralized lighting system control boxes, lighting-dedicated smart home control centers, and smart light switches and dimmers) that are separate from any light source or fixture. It has accounted for 63% of sales of smart lighting.

Intelligent lighting control is critical to energy savings in non-residential applications, using large sensor networks and intelligent analytics to reduce energy consumption. Smart lighting for the average consumer is primarily convenient (eg, voice control, remote control away from home) typically requires a bridge or control center. Building control suppliers have rapidly expanded their offerings to integrate smart lighting into a broader range of building automation and Internet of Things (IoT) systems.
