Whether Li-Fi affected LED lighting quality

Recently, researchers at the University of Edinburgh conducted a one-year study to determine if Li-Fi could adversely affect the energy efficiency of LEDs. The study was funded by the British Engineering and Natural Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

Whether Li-Fi affected LED lighting quality

The researchers explained the project in a paper on "Studies of the Effects of Visible Light Communication on Illumination and Display Quality." They found that LEDs can meet the needs of wireless communications without compromising the light or environmental benefits they provide.

Research shows that the LEDs are emitting light while transmitting digital data, the LEDs neither discolor nor darken the light, nor does the LED consume more energy. Maintaining the quality of lighting is an important consideration because it can have a significant impact on the physical and mental health of people at home and in the workplace.

Wasiu Popoola, Ph.D., principal investigator at the University of Edinburgh's Li-Fi Research Center and the Institute of Digital Communications, said these are major concerns for the industry, hindering consumers' use of Li-Fi with home-use LEDs and hindering Li-Fi The widespread adoption.

With the help of two different data transmission techniques, researchers studied LEDs that produce warm white light and cool white light. The first is on-off keying, during which the LED's operating mode is the same as the Morse code and can be quickly switched on and off for the human eye. Second, in the meantime, the light intensity is changed to achieve the same goal.

Both of these technologies have been successful without significantly reducing the brightness or life expectancy of LED bulbs and without causing any significant color change. Both of these technologies have a slight subtle effect on the amount of heat generated by the LEDs. The generation of heat is another important consideration, as rising temperatures mean that LEDs use more power to generate light and reduce their energy efficiency.
