Xiamen will replace 2,500pcs intelligent LED street lights this year

The reporter learned from the municipal department of Xiamen that as one of the practical projects for this year by the municipal party committee and the municipal government, the replacement of street lamps in the old quarters and street lanes has officially started.

A total of approximately 2,500 street lamps will be replaced during this renovation. This series of street lamps uses LED light sources, is energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and more intelligent, enabling single lamp control.

The transformation involves the street lights of 7 old districts, and the street lights of 6 plots of back streets. The 7 plots are Shiting Community, Zhenxing New Village, Lotus Five Village, Penang Community, Jinji Pavilion Community in Siming District. As well as the Kim Sang community and Dongdu community in the lake. The back streets of the 6 plots are located in Siming’s old town area, including General Jun’ao Road, Jiaobin Road, Ancient City East/West Road, Minzu Road, Dongpu Road, and Huyuan Road. These districts and back streets were built earlier. Many street lights have been used for 20 to 30 years. The supporting facilities have reached the age of use. Many street light facilities are aging and damaged, and the lighting effects are poor, and some of them still have potential safety hazards. The old quarters and back streets are mostly residents' residences and crowded activity areas. Therefore, it is necessary to upgrade the street lights.

The total number of street lights that will be rebuilt and supplemented this year is approximately 2,500 feet, which is based on the principle of transforming a period of investment. At present Tajiro Road has taken the lead to start the process of excavating trenches. The street lamps that will be replaced will all adopt high-efficiency, energy-saving and environmentally-friendly LED light sources, which can realize functions such as single-lamp control and automatic fault alarming, GPS positioning, operation parameter monitoring and statistics.

Wu Longbo, project leader of the municipal office of the municipal engineering management office, said: We have adopted the Internet of Things technology this time and will be more efficient in future maintenance. We can also discover in real time which light is not on, and it takes almost two to three months for the pipeline to enter the ground. Installation and other lamp lamps ordering gradually installed, there is no one-time installation, and gradually let it lit up one by one.

This replacement project is expected to be completed in August. In the future, Xiamen City will continue to promote this intelligent street light in the replacement of secondary roads and back street light.
