Smart street lights illuminate citizens in Longkou City, Yantai, Shandong Province

Street lights are the eyes of the city and a symbol that displays the image of a city. Small street lights reflect the people's livelihood, which is related to citizens' travel experience and the energy consumption expenditure of city operation. By the end of January, Longkou City had completed the renovation of smart street lights on 22 major road sections, including Tonghai Road, Longquan Road, and North Street, as well as back streets and alleys. The quality of Longkou's urban environment has been further improved. This also means that the original high-energy-consuming, low-illumination sodium lamps on some urban roads in Longkou City have been cleared and replaced with energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and smart LED lamps, making them “brighter” and “more energy-saving.”

Recently, maintenance workers dismantled old sodium lamps one by one, replaced them with new LED lamps, and installed single lamp controllers, street lamp gateways and other intelligent management and control equipment.

Compared with the previous street lamps, what are the changes in the LED lamps installed this time? It is understood that the original lamps near Tonghai Road were seriously damaged, and the huge sycamore trees severely blocked the street lamps, causing a serious lack of road illumination. In this renovation, the original light arm was completely removed, the main road arm was changed to 3.5 meters, and the auxiliary road arm was reduced to 5.5 meters, which solved the problem of tree blocking to the greatest extent.

In order to realize the intelligent upgrade of the overall street lights in Longkou City, one city, one network, one road, one policy, and one light, one control. Since the beginning of this year, Longkou City has launched a smart street lamp renovation project to implement intelligent transformation of 19,162 sodium lamps on 161 roads in the city. At present, Longkou City has completed 20% of the total project volume of smart street lamp renovation. The overall brightness of the transformed street lights has increased by more than 30%, and the energy saving rate has reached more than 60%.
