According to the plan, these funds will be used to build small power supply systems for 900 villages that have not yet received electricity. Most of these villages are located in remote areas more than 10 miles from the national main grid. In order to solve the power demand in these areas, the General Administration of Rural Development will rely on household photovoltaic systems and renewable resource small power supply systems to provide reliable power supply to these villages.

Since the beginning of the 2016-2017 fiscal year, the Myanmar government has been committed to promoting rural lighting, aiming to provide 27,000 villages outside the scope of the national main grid with access to electricity. In the past five years, this work has achieved remarkable results, providing electricity to more than 10,000 villages and more than 500,000 households.
