19,000 street lights on Xiamen Island start energy-saving and smart transformation

Recently, residents living in a community near Douzaiwei Road, Siming District, Xiamen City, Fujian Province have discovered that the street lights at night are brighter than before, making walking at night safer and more secure.

It turns out that the 26 traditional sodium lamps in this section have been replaced with more energy-saving and smarter LED lamps. This is also part of Xiamen City's comprehensive launch of energy-saving and intelligent transformation of street lamps on the island.

Staff at the Xiamen Municipal Engineering Center said that the sodium lamps previously used on Douzaiwei Road were about to reach the end of their service life and had problems such as poor color rendering and low energy utilization, and could no longer meet the nighttime lighting needs of surrounding residents. After being replaced with LED lights, the street lights not only provide more uniform and bright light, but also significantly improve energy efficiency.
