Over 7,000 Streetlights Upgraded to Smart Systems in Tianjin's Binhai New Area
Recently, the Urban Management Committee of Tianjin's Binhai New Area has completed the smart transformation of more than 7,000 streetlights in the core urban areas of the district.

According to the Municipal Appearance and Infrastructure Center of the Binhai New Area Urban Management Committee, the core philosophy behind the smart streetlight project is: intelligent empowerment, energy conservation, and centralized management. Technologically, it deeply integrates the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G communications, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics to achieve a shift from "single-point lighting" to "area-wide intelligence."
It is reported that since its launch in August this year, the project has progressed steadily. To date, smart upgrades have been completed for over 7,000 streetlights along key transportation arteries such as Jintang Highway and Gangcheng Avenue, as well as in core urban areas including Shanghai Road, Central North Road, and Hangzhou Road. The smart streetlight enhancement and renovation project for the entire district is expected to be fully completed by mid-2026. By then, the entire lighting network of the Binhai New Area will be comprehensively upgraded to a smart sensing network, with both coverage and functional applications further expanded.
