Streetlights Illuminated Along the Most Beautiful Coastal Route in Nansha District, Guangzhou

The coastal road in Gangwan Subdistrict is a popular leisure destination for local residents to stroll, exercise and cycle, with heavy pedestrian flow at night. Nevertheless, the original outdated compact streetlights delivered insufficient brightness and limited lighting coverage. Dim lighting along the road impaired pedestrians’ vision, easily triggering safety hazards such as collisions and falls. Residents voiced an urgent demand for improved nighttime lighting conditions.

During routine visits and public opinion collection, He Xueming and Chen Zhihong, deputies to the District People’s Congress, learned of this pressing concern of residents. They immediately conducted on-site surveys, thoroughly identified lighting blind zones, clarified road details, faithfully recorded residents’ demands, formulated targeted proposals, actively contacted relevant functional departments, carried out communication and coordination, and made every effort to advance the lighting upgrading project.

With continuous follow-up, supervision and oversight by the NPC deputies, relevant departments pushed forward construction efficiently. The installation and commissioning of 12 new streetlights along the road have been successfully completed, and all lights are now in operation. The brand-new streetlights provide ample and even illumination, filling the lighting gaps of the road, greatly improving nighttime traffic conditions, and effectively eliminating safety risks for night travel, winning unanimous praise from residents.

The streetlights brighten not merely the coastal walkway, but also the path of happiness and peace for residents. The two NPC deputies stated that they will continue to fulfill their duties, focus on minor livelihood matters and public demands, conduct regular visits to listen to public opinions and resolve people’s worries. They will respond to residents’ expectations with solid work and safeguard people’s wellbeing through targeted performance of duties.
